Pre-School

Welcome to Pre - School's Class Page.

We are always busy in Pre - School; making, exploring and creating new things.

Senior Nursery Officers: Miss Cunningham and Miss Bowen

Nursery Officers: Mrs Murray, Miss Evans, Miss Ashmore, Miss Reid, Miss Small and Ms Kelly

We have Pre - School places available for 2 year olds.

Funded Nursery Hours:

Morning: 8:45 - 11:45

Afternoon: 12:35 - 3:35

This term our topic is based on 'Stories and Fairy Tales'

We will be sharing stories in nursery and in our Story Wood!

The books we have chosen include:

The Three Little Pigs

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The Gingerbread Man

Jack and the Beanstalk

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

We will make sure we share photographs of us enjoying our fantastic activities as  we work through this topic !

Last half term our topic was 'Space'

We looked at a range of stories all about Space. We enjoyed Aliens Love Underpants, Whatever Next and How to Catch a Star. The children loved building rockets and creating some fancy pants for the aliens!

Although we do topic based activities, many of the activities are based around the children's own

interests, which can be seen on our interests board in class.

We also thought about keeping our bodies healthy with the help of our Startwell Characters

(http://startwellbirmingham.co.uk/). Each day we have rolling snack, meaning the children are able to

have fruit, milk and water as and when they choose to throughout the session.

We love singing songs in Pre - School, some of our favourites are:

Walking through the Jungle

Baa Baa Black Sheep

The Wheels on the Bus

I dig my garden

Five cheeky monkeys swinging in the tree

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Hickory Dickory Dock

We do P.E. every Thursday. Children do not get changed for P.E. however we would ask that you send

your children in appropriate clothing and footwear to take part in physical activities everyday as the

children are always active outside.

If you wish to speak to one of the teachers in Nursery, please feel free to catch one of us when you

bring your child to nursery or if you require a longer period of time to talk, please make an

appointment.

Spare clothes, nappies and wipes should be kept on your child's peg at all times.

Bringing your child to school in wellies or leaving some next to their peg as well as providing a warm coat would also be beneficial as the children love to explore outside whatever the weather.
