Q8. What training/experience have the staff supporting children with SEND had or having?

  1. Our school SENCO (Mrs Smith) is an experienced teacher with over 15 years’ experience of working as a SENCO. All our Teaching Assistants are NVQ level 3 trained or equivalent.

Recent staff training for SEND:

  • Speech and language difficulties

  • ASD level 1 training for lunch time supervisors

  • PATHS

  • Maths Tool-kit

  • < >< >Teaching Assistants attend fortnightly training sessions with the SENCO. Training this year has included:

     

    Precision teaching, ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Clicker 6, maths toolkit, phonics, First Aid, Epipen 

    Planned training for 2014/15 includes:

    • ASD level 1 training for whole staff

    • PECS training/Makaton for language and communication needs

    • Asthma awareness

    • Defibrillator training
