COVID 19 UPDATE - SCHOOL CLOSURE

We are currently operating as an emergency care facility for children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs. The Government have advised that children stay at home where possible and only use this service when there is no alternative provision for the children.

Design and Technology

The national curriculum for design and technology aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
  • build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
  • critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others
  • understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook

At both key stages, pupils are taken through the Design, Make and Evaluate stages of the DT curriculum and are encouraged to develop their technical knowledge throughout.

Pupils are encouraged in areas of DT through their topics and the wider curriculum.

Pupils are also set Power Projects as part of Home Learning which often involve design technology elements of learning. These projects are celebrated in school and put on display.
