Topic
Our current topic is ‘Fairytales'
Through this topic we will be looking at a range of traditional fairytales such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and more modern tales such as Mr Wolf's Pancakes. We will build on the children's interests to explore these through a range of play based learning activities. This enables us to explore stories through a range of areas of development. For example, making pancakes; develops our mathematical understanding to measure out ingredients, as well as our understanding of the world around us and the cultures and traditions held by ourselves and others.
Class information
PE - Our PE day is Wednesday but please have your PE kit in school every day in case we have an extra chance to do PE.
Home Learning – Home-learning is given in the form of the 'Word of the week'. This is given to every child in the school but it is up to you what to do to explore this further. For example, for the word 'Happy' your child could have their photo of them taken making a happy face, they could draw a picture or you could talk about the things that make happy (making a note of this in their home learning book) the possibilities are endless. Please support your child, but don't do it all for them! It is given out every Wednesday in home learning books. It should be returned by the following Monday.
Borrowing Stories - The children can borrow a story book to share at home. Please ensure they return this for it to be changed by the following Friday morning. We keep a few record of which books have been loaned out if you need us to check which book needs to be returned.
Uniform – Please make sure your child’s uniform, PE kit and coat is clearly labelled. Jewellery is not allowed in school except for simple stud earrings.
It is important that your child comes to nursery with suitable clothing for outdoor learning. In winter meaning they will need coats, wellies, hats, mittens. When the weather is good please ensure sun cream has been applied before they enter nursery.
