We are currently operating as an emergency care facility for children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs. The Government have advised that children stay at home where possible and only use this service when there is no alternative provision for the children.
During term time, there will be food parcels available for children who are entitled to free school meals - these will only be available for pick up on Wednesdays.

Welcome to Reception!
The Reception Team
Class Teacher – Mrs Day
Teaching Assistant – Mrs Green
In Autumn 1, our topic is 'Ourselves'
We will be learning about ourselves and the things that make us special and unique. We will talk about our favourite things to do at school, learn about different feelings and start to understand that we are all different. We will look at the Funnybones story, making straw skeletons, learning about the different parts of the body and drawing story maps. We will also read Handa's Surprise, tasting different, exotic fruits and comparing Handa's life to our own.
In Autumn 2, our topic is ‘Festivals and Celebrations’
We will be learning about Bonfire Night, Diwali, Remembrance Day, Hanukkah and Christmas as part of this topic, considering their similarities and differences as well as how they are celebrated by different people. We will paint firework pictures, make our own Hannukah menorahs and understand the importance of poppies on Remembrance Day. We will also visit St Martin's Church for a Christingle service where the children will make their own Christingle oranges.
We will continue to access the outdoor area as a part of our free flow learning – please ensure your child has a warm coat and wellies, so they are prepared for going out in any weather.
PE - Our PE day is every Thursday so please ensure your child's PE kit is in school every Thursday. Please make sure everything is labelled with your child's name so that we do not have lost things at the end of a lesson.
Home Reading – Our fantastic volunteer Mrs Scrivens will change your child’s home reading book on a TUESDAY. Please read at home with your child as often as possible and make a note in their reading record. Please send your book bag to school every day in case they get extra opportunities to read.
We are trying to visit the library regularly too, so please send your library book to school so that these can be changed.
Home Learning – Home-learning is always a new Word of the Week. It is up to you how you represent this word - you could draw, create a collage, take a photograph, do some baking or whatever else the word might make you think of! It is given out every Wednesday in Purple home-learning books. It must be returned by the following Monday so that it can be marked and sent back to you.
Maths Keys - We also have a Maths focus each half term, which we encourage parents to support us with. A letter is sent home each half term with ideas of games to play and activities to do to encourage these early Maths skills. Please see below for a copy of this half term's letter.
Autumn 1: Number recognition to 20
Autumn 2: Counting on
Spring 1: Counting back
Spring 2: Number formation
Summer 1: Adding 1
Summer 2: Subtracting 1
Uniform – Please make sure your child’s uniform, PE kit and coat is clearly labelled with your child's name. Jewellery is not allowed in school except for simple stud earrings.
See what we have been up to in Reception...
Recently we have held two Parent Mornings, which have been really well attended. We played lots of Phonics games and taught our parents the new sounds and the actions that we have been learning. We also invited all our parents/ carers for a Bedtime Story session. We read stories together, shared milk and biscuits and had a lovely time reading with our grown ups. Thank you to all the parents/ carers who were able to attend.
Christmas Craft morning coming next...
