This is a new club to Story Wood for 2023.
Debate Mate is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their public speaking skills. Pupils learn how to craft arguments, present ideas and critically challenge the ideas of others in caring ways, building tolerance and respect. Collaboratively, children build and create arguments to share and follow the structure of standard debates.
From this club, children have been selected to enter competitions at other schools in the city. We hope to be challenging other schools on a national level as we continue to develop our skills in debating.
