Spring Term

Pancakes for Shrove Tuesday

On Tuesday we held pancake races and decorated our own pancakes by cutting up fruit, making the most of our fine motor skills!

Using number bonds to 10 to improve our fluency…

We had three parts in this lesson. We added the smaller parts and used our number bonds to 10 to work out the large part without having to count!

Making number stories

We have been putting people on bus journeys and seeing how many are left at the bus stop!
Please practise number bonds to 10 with your children at home.

This is a song we use in class…

Phase 3 Homework Sheets

Please read through these sheets with your children and practise the sounds we have learnt during phase 3. We have moved on to double letter digraphs.

Computing - debugging

This week we made paper rockets with some success. The children were resilient and we spent time thinking about how we could have changed our design to ensure the rockets blasted off. We used the VR headsets to visit Mars inside a rocket.

Outdoor learning.

We have been extending the children’s thinking and prompting their imagination through our ‘I wonder…’ questions. This has led to children making magic potions and food in our kitchen, considering how to make the boat travel down the tube and whether or not their structure is strong enough for them to stand on.

Understanding the world

This afternoon we have been learning about different jobs that we could have when we are older. We have role played as different people in the play room.

Safer Internet Day

We identified our trusted adult and drew some amazing pictures of who we would tell if we felt unsafe online.

As part of our science lessons we have been planting bulbs and seeds. Our lettuce and radishes have started to grow after just one week!

Developing communication and language through play…

Computing…. We used our knowledge of what a boat is and what its purpose is to make our own. We then tested them and ‘debugged’ any issues. Here are some videos of our attempts…

Week 1 and 2 Phonics Homework.

Please use these sheets to help support your children with the new phase 3 sounds.

The children are enjoying learning these new sounds and please find any opportunity to help practice their reading and blending.

PSHE children making shelters in the forest as a way of building resilience during a difficult challenge.

Conservation of number… Reception learning that the amount made with the counters is the same, however it looks on the 10 frame. Each child is making a different pattern of counters using the same amount.
