Story Wood School "Inspiring Minds to Universally Succeed" "inspirati omnia impetramus"

Summer Term

20.5.24 This week we have made jam or honey sandwiches and in maths we have ordered the instructions about how to make these.

17.5.24 This week in PSHE we have been thinking about the importance of working together. The children have enjoyed carrying out 'heavy work' by working as a team to build ramps, castles and walkways to balance on.

16.5.24 The children have taken an interest in playing hopscotch in the playground this week. We have been practising our throwing, hopping and we have been waiting for our turn.

14.5.24 In maths this week we are continuing to focus on 3d shapes - today we have looked for everyday objects that are 3d shapes that we have been learning - cube, cuboid, sphere and cylinder.

10.5.24 The children have been enjoying the beautiful weather this week - spending lots of time learning together outside.

24.4.24 This week we have been reading 'Small Mouse Big City'. The children have been comparing the countryside and city; discussing their own experiences and where they think they would like best. They have created their own chalk pictures of the city, junk modelled city buildings and painted pictures of the countryside.

17.4.24 This week we have been looking at the story of "Rainbow Fish". The children enjoyed retelling the story, shared their ideas about being a good friend and mixed colours to create their own colourful fish.

10.4.24 This week part of our Maths focus was on sequencing Nursery rhymes. Alongside this we completed nursery rhyme themed fine motor activities; playdough Incy Wincy spider, giving Baa Baa black sheep some wool, winding the bobbin up, cutting and sorting animals for Old Macdonald's farm and reconstructing Humpty Dumpty.
