PSHE & REd : Jigsaw
Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they really are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world. Jigsaw consists of 6 Puzzles (half-term units of work) containing 6 Pieces (lessons). Each Piece has 2 Learning Intentions. One is based on specific PSHE learning (covering the non-statutory national framework for PSHE Education but enhanced to address children’s needs today); and the other is based on emotional literacy and social skills. These enhancements mean that Jigsaw is relevant to children living in today’s world as it helps them understand and be equipped to cope with modern issues such as body image, cyber and homophobic bullying, and internet safety.
Each new topic is launched at the beginning of each new half term with a whole school Assembly. The topic is also celebrated during weekly Celebration Assembly with a certificate given to one pupil per class.
The following information has been produced by Jigsaw to help our families understand the lessons and what is covered within each of our PHSE curriculum topics. If you have any questions or would like a paper copy of the information, please come in and speak to a member of the Leadership team.
