This week, Descartes worked real hard during our DT lesson to create 3D shapes!

Descartes have been using

headsets this week to help with our writing in English. The pupils went on a recent travel to space - made possible with VR! They then had to write about their experience using the personal pronoun ‘I’

Descartes had an incredible sensory filled STEM day! 🧪Our handmade musical instruments were incredible for all to hear! Then we took part in some playground games for pupils with disabilities #storywoodSTEMday

Descartes had some incredible doubling fun this week ✖️🟰. We used blocks to better understand the fundamentals of early multiplication skills, our pupils worked super hard and were incredibly proud of their success!

🎨🖌️ Descartes did an AMAZING job using Freeform to create their dream houses! 🏠✨

With just a few clues, they drew colourful homes that showed their creativity and imagination!

In computing, Descartes worked on iPads with the objective of recreating a picture using an art app. Using Freeform, the pupils created images that were simply ‘out of this world’ using tools such as the microfine pen, crayon and filler tool. We were blown away with the results!

In science, Descartes made daily weather observations, documenting their findings in a weather diary. After a week, they compared their predictions to actual observations, discovering how accurate their forecasts were. A hands-on lesson in prediction, observation, and comparison that brings the wonders of weather to life! 🌦️📖

Descartes had a blast diving into the world of measurement! Students worked with both non-standard units, like hands and blocks, as well as centimetres to measure various objects. The highlight of the lesson was when they had fun measuring one another for a group task. They were intrigued to see who was the tallest and shortest!

Descartes are kicking off their football journey by mastering the fundamentals of dribbling! Through fun activities, they’re developing key gross motor skills while diving into the exciting world of attacking and defending. It's all about building confidence on the ball, learning to move with purpose, and understanding teamwork in the game. A great start to their football adventure!

Bridging 10 made fun and easy! Descartes used cubes, number lines, and number cards to explore how numbers can bridge over 10. The hands-on approach helped everyone understand the concept better, and the children loved getting creative while learning!
