In maths this week, the children have been learning about currency. They have been exploring notes and coins. They had fun creating their own shop and pretending to be the shop keeper.

Descartes have been learning about common trees that we can find in our school grounds. The children were exploring and drawing our school’s willow tree.

Descartes have worked extremely hard in our Little Wandle phonics lessons. They enjoy their three reading sessions a week and then taking the books home to consolidate their knowledge.

Descartes are learning about the textile artist Barbara Shaw. We have been inspired by her apple and we are using the technique of layering to create our own.

Descartes have been reading for pleasure. They enjoy their weekly library sessions.

The children have enjoyed their first week back at school. We are now focusing on numbers up to 100! The children have worked extremely hard partitioning numbers into tens and ones using base 10.
